FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

At age three, STAR assists families and children who have been participating in the Birth to Three program transition into their local public school programs and home school. STAR continues to provide ongoing support to families from the ages of 3 to 21 through the Family Support Department. The goal of Family Support is to do ‘whatever it takes’ to provide each family with the necessary resources in order to strengthen the family unit and decrease stress. The services are flexible, individualized, responsive to identified needs and are designed based on the assumption that families are the experts who are best able to determine what services and supports they need. To the greatest extent possible Family Support Services are designed to maximize integration and participation of the entire family in the community by strengthening the already existing natural support network and helping to connect the family to community resources.
