FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES
At age three, STAR assists families and children who have been participating in the Birth to Three program to transition into their local public school programs or home school. STAR continues to provide ongoing support to families from the ages of 3 to 21 through the Family Support Services program. The goal of Family Support Services is to provide each family with the necessary resources that will strengthen the family unit and decrease stress. The services are flexible, individualized, responsive to identified needs and designed based on the assumption that families are the experts, best able to determine what services and supports they need.
To the greatest extent possible, Family Support Services maximize integration and participation of the entire family in the community by strengthening the already-existing natural support network and helping to connect the family to community resources.

- Adaptive equipment
- Advocacy for families
- Assistance with entitlement programs
- Behavioral Intervention
- Emotional Support
- Environmental modifications
- General resource and referral
- In-home respite care
- Locating after-school programs, camps and recreation programs
- Locating professional and clinical supports
- Parent Education
- Parent to Parent connections
- Sibling support
- Support within the school system
- USE (Understanding Special Education) trainings
