STAR'S Rubino Family Center
Beginning with infants and young children with special needs, a team of certified teachers and therapists provide early intervention services, including individualized therapeutic, educational and social services. Comprehensive services are offered in order to strengthen the capacity of families to meet the developmental and health-related needs of their infants and toddlers.
|
STAR provides families with flexible supports of their choosing at times that they need them in order to assist their child to be active in family life. Formal programs and professional services, as well as the informal support available from extended family, friends, neighbors and community members are utilized. Parent education and training is also provided.
|
|
Seniors with disabilities are provided supports including exercise classes, cultural events and social outings.
|
Each year over 250 individuals receive job training from STAR. Individuals are supported at STAR’s Workshop, work sites within local companies and in local corporations and businesses, where they earn competitive wages and benefits.
|
|
Residential Services
Approximately 70 individuals are supported each year living in STAR operated Group Homes and Supported Apartments. Individuals receive training, supervision and support in order to live full and productive lives.
|
Through STAR'S recreation and leisure programs, individuals are able to partake more fully in community life by taking day trips to resort areas, museums, parks, and local events. Individuals also receive support from STAR on extended vacations.

Respite Services
STAR provides both in-home respite care for young children and respite services for adults at Founders' Cottage.

Self-Determination
STAR supports more than 10 adults with
develpmental disabilities to live in their own
homes and apartments. Paricipants develop more autonomy to make their own decisions and to assume greater responsibility for their lives through training, supervision and support.

Advocacy, Case Management and Transportation
All STAR participants receive coordinated case management, social services and advocacy. Transportation is available on a sliding scale basis for individuals who otherwise could not access STAR services.
