The STAR Story

For over 50 years, STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way… has been assisting thousands of infants, teens and adults with developmentally disabilities.

Beginning at birth, children with special needs receive early intervention services. At age three, they are transitioned into their local school districts and home school. However, STAR continues to provide family and sibling support, after-school activities and help by sponsoring and locating camp programs.

When young adults with disabilities graduate from high school, STAR again becomes actively involved by providing assessment and job training, which leads to employment. This employment allows individuals to live more independently as they become a part of a company and their community, earning wages and benefits, and making new friends.

As adults with disabilities, STAR helps them by helping them live in their own homes and apartments with training, supervision and support, enabling them to make their own decisions and assume greater responsibility for their lives.
