WAYS TO GIVE

Gifts of cash or check (We now accept credit cards):
STAR is pleased to announce that our annual fund, membership and memorial contributions may now be made by credit card. We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. Just call Michael Petell, STAR's Director of Development at (203) 846-9581, ext. 302. The easiest and most direct way to assist STAR is through an outright gift of cash, usually in the form of a check or CREDIT CARD (SEE ABOVE!). These are the most popular forms of gifts and are directed to the general operating expenses of the organization. Your gift helps to meet our greatest need at the time it is received. All gifts of this nature are 100% tax deductible.

Gifts by wills
A will is the easiest and most effective means to ensure that your property, whether substantial or modest, is distributed as you wish. Your will, when properly drafted by an attorney, will conserve as much of your estate as possible for your family, other loved ones, and perhaps for charitable causes you support such as STAR.
- A gift to STAR through your will has several advantages:
- Charitable gifts made through your will are 100% deductible for estate tax purposes.
- A charitable bequest may place your estate in a lower estate tax bracket.
- You may specify that your request is used for general purposes or for a specific project or program.
- A gift by will might be worded:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way for its general purposes all (or state fraction or percentage) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real or personal.”
or:
“I give, devise, and bequest to STAR Inc., Lighting the Way the sum of $ ____ to be used for the general purposes of the organization.”

Memorial Donations
If you want to make a donation in memory of a deceased family member or friend, STAR will send a card to that person's family acknowledging your thoughtful donation. You may add a personalized message to the card. You will receive a card confirming your donation has been received and that a gift card has been sent.

Honor Donations
If you wish to make a gift honoring someone, STAR will send a card to the honoree acknowledging your thoughtful donation. If you wish, you may add a personalized message to the card. Confirmation that your donation has been received and that a gift card has been sent is sent to all donors.

Sponsorships
Each year STAR conducts fundraisers that directly benefit infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities. They have different sponsorship and advertising opportunities. Our main fundraiser is:
